Eligibility Rules

American Independent Film Awards Eligibility Rules:

For a film to be considered eligible for the American Independent Film Awards, it must meet ALL of the listed requirements.

i. cost of production must fall under 1,000,000 million U.S.

ii. must be 70 minutes in length.

iii. must be a work of fiction.

iv. This U.S based production needs to comply with 2 of the 3:
– filmmaker(s) is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
– producer(s) is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
– must be financed in part (at least 50%) by companies that are U.S based.

v. Must have been selected for one of following film festivals:

Sundance Film Festival
Berlin Int. Film Festival
SXSW Film Festival
Tribeca Film Festival
Cannes Film Festival
Venice Film Festival
Toronto int. Film Festival

and

vi. must have played theatrically for one week or received its VOD release or online premiere between January 1st to December 31st of 2016.
